Top 5 questions to ask when booking an Irish Wedding Band for 2024 and 2025.
Congratulations, you’ve just got engaged – now the real fun of planning your wedding can begin!
There’s no doubt that picking the right wedding band is a very important task, but it can also be a fun one. From looking through setlists to viewing bands live at showcases – it’s a real chance to add a personal touch to the music for your big day.
Here are some of the best Five questions to ask when picking a band for your wedding.
1)
What are the size options?
Most bands will have different lineups available, usually starting at a 3-piece – with some bands offering up to 7 or 8-piece lineups if your wedding budget permits. It’s always good to know what your band can offer, what the additional cost is for extra musicians, and also how much space is required for the band in your wedding venue. 2)
How long does the band play for?
Always a great question to ask, as this can make a difference when you’re finalizing the timings for your day. Most Irish Wedding Bands offer a 2-hour set, with a small break in the middle. Our bands always end on a high note, and leave your guests with a great buzz from dancing to a live band – which is a great time to then kick off into your party DJ set
3)
Does the band come with a Party DJ?
One of the many advantages that comes with booking through an experienced booking agent is that you can avail of amazing offers and discounts with professional party DJs. All of our Wedding bands come with the option of a Wedding Party DJ Set to finish off the night on a high.
4)
How much input can we have on the setlist?
This a really popular question from brides and grooms, and for good reason. Everyone wants to make sure they can have their personal touch on the band setlist. We recommend discussing some of your favorite songs and genres and letting the band know your taste. The band can then take that on board when curating their set. On the night, the band will always play on the dancefloor too, meaning they can swap and change as they go, depending on what works best with your guests. This means the dancefloor stays full, and all your guests have a rockin’ time. This is where is always better to deal with an agency when booking a band so they can help with the finer requirements that sometimes can get missed or overlooked.
5)
Can the band play our first dance live?
Usually, the first question we get asked is about the all-important first dance. And this all depends on the band and the song. Most bands will do their very best to perform a first dance live, but there are occasions where they will recommend going with the mp3 of the original version, For example, when the song is very heavily produced, it can often be difficult for a live band to recreate this sound. Another example is when the bride and groom have learned a choreographed dance for the first dance – often it’s best to go with the original, to ensure all the timings and ques remain the same.
Generally, bands are very open to learning songs and enjoy performing first dances live – the best thing you can do is give them plenty of notice, and communicate with your booking agent about this through the booking process.
